What it is:
Good Friday is the day Christians remember the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ. On Good Friday, Jesus willingly went to the cross and died to take away the sins of the world.
Why it’s called “Good”:
The crucifixion was a dark and painful event however Christians call it ‘Good’ because Jesus chose to give His life. By doing this He was offering salvation, forgiveness, and hope to all of humanity.
How Christians commemorate this day:
- Church services focused on the suffering and death of Jesus
- Moments of silence and reflection
- Fasting or acts of repentance
