Music can affect people deeply.
It can:
- influence your thinking
- affect your emotions
- shape your mindset
- strengthen certain desires
- and impact your spiritual focus
That’s why many Christians start asking questions like:
- “Is secular music sinful?”
- “Can I enjoy music without harming my relationship with God?”
- “How do I know what music is affecting me negatively?”
The Bible does not give a list of forbidden music genres.
But it does teach something important:
👉 What you continually fill your mind with matters.
So this is not really about legalism or trying to control every song.
It’s about wisdom, discernment, and protecting your spiritual life.

- Pay attention to how certain music affects your thoughts and behaviour
- Remove music that constantly pulls you toward sin or darkness

What the Bible Says About Music and Influence
The Bible actually speaks positively about music in many places.
Music was used for:

The Bible also shows David using music skillfully, and the Psalms are filled with songs and worship.

- Does it feed:
- anger
- lust
- pride
- darkness
- rebellion
- hopelessness?
Jesus taught that fruit reveals what something produces.

- Be honest about how music affects your mind
- Notice patterns in your thoughts and behaviour
- Remove music that consistently harms your spiritual life
👉 Entertainment is not spiritually neutral when it constantly feeds sin
