Bible Verses About Friendship
July 8, 2024The Bible teaches that evil spirits are real.
Scripture also teaches that Jesus Christ has complete authority over them.
Throughout the Gospels, Jesus:
- cast out demons (Mark 1:34)
- delivered those who were oppressed (Luke 4:18)
- demonstrated His authority over Satan’s kingdom (Matthew 12:28–29)
- and gave His disciples authority to cast out demons in His name (Luke 9:1; Mark 6:7).
Believers do not need to live in fear of evil spirits.
Jesus has already defeated Satan through His death and resurrection (Colossians 2:15; Hebrews 2:14; 1 John 3:8).
👉 Christ’s authority is greater than every power of darkness.
⚡ What To Do Right Now
- Put your faith in Jesus Christ
- Pray and trust God’s protection
- Read God’s Word daily
- Resist the devil and submit to God
- Remember Christ’s victory over the powers of darkness
👉 Jesus is stronger than every evil spirit.
What the Bible Says About Evil Spirits
The Bible clearly teaches that evil spirits exist.
They oppose God’s work and seek to deceive people.
Satan is described as:
- the devil (Matthew 4:1)
- the father of lies (John 8:44)
- the tempter (Matthew 4:3)
- and the adversary who seeks to devour (1 Peter 5:8).
Although spiritual warfare is real, Satan and his demons are created beings.
They are not equal to God, and they remain completely under His authority.
Jesus Has Authority Over Evil Spirits
Throughout His earthly ministry, Jesus repeatedly demonstrated His authority by commanding demons to leave people.
They obeyed Him immediately because they recognised His authority.
Mark 1:27 says:
“What new doctrine is this? for with authority commandeth he even the unclean spirits, and they do obey him.”
These miracles revealed that Jesus is the Son of God and that His kingdom is greater than Satan’s kingdom.
Christ Has Already Won the Victory
The cross and resurrection secured Christ’s victory over Satan.
Colossians 2:15 says:
“Having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.”
Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil (1 John 3:8).
Because of His victory, believers can stand confidently in Him without living in fear.
Believers Should Resist the Devil
The Bible never tells Christians to fear evil spirits.
Instead, believers are instructed to submit to God and resist the devil.
James 4:7 says:
“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
As Christians remain close to God through prayer, scripture, and obedience, He strengthens them to stand firm against spiritual attacks.
Put On the Whole Armour of God
The Christian life includes spiritual warfare.
God has provided spiritual armour so His people can stand against the enemy’s schemes.
The armour of God includes:
- the belt of truth (Ephesians 6:14)
- the breastplate of righteousness (Ephesians 6:14)
- the shoes of the gospel of peace (Ephesians 6:15)
- the shield of faith (Ephesians 6:16)
- the helmet of salvation (Ephesians 6:17)
- and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God (Ephesians 6:17).
Prayer is also essential as believers stand firm (Ephesians 6:18).
Avoid Occult Practices
The Bible warns God’s people not to become involved in practices connected with the occult.
These include:
- witchcraft (Galatians 5:19–21)
- sorcery (Deuteronomy 18:10–12)
- consulting mediums (Leviticus 19:31)
- spiritism (Isaiah 8:19)
- and divination (Deuteronomy 18:10).
God calls His people to seek Him alone rather than looking for guidance through forbidden spiritual practices.
