July 9, 2024Peace is something every person longs for.
Many people search for peace through:
- success
- money
- relationships
- possessions
- or changing their circumstances.
The Bible teaches that lasting peace is found in God alone.
Although life will still include trials and difficulties, believers can experience deep inner peace because they know the Lord is with them.
👉 True peace comes from trusting God, not from having a problem-free life.
⚡ What To Do Right Now
- Bring your worries to God in prayer
- Read His promises about peace
- Trust Him with your circumstances
- Keep your mind focused on Christ
- Choose to rest in God’s faithfulness
👉 God’s peace guards the hearts of those who trust Him.
What the Bible Says About Peace
The Bible teaches that peace begins with God.
Because of sin, humanity was separated from Him.
Through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, believers can be reconciled to God and experience true peace (Romans 5:1; Colossians 1:20–22).
Jesus told His followers:
John 14:27 says:
“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you.”
The peace Jesus gives is different from the temporary peace the world offers.
Peace With God
The greatest peace anyone can experience is peace with God.
When a person places their faith in Jesus Christ, their sins are forgiven and their relationship with God is restored.
Romans 5:1 says:
“Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
This peace forms the foundation for every other kind of peace in the Christian life.
God’s Peace Guards Our Hearts
Life often brings:
- anxiety
- uncertainty
- disappointment
- grief
- and fear.
God does not promise that believers will avoid these struggles.
Instead, He promises His peace as they bring their concerns to Him.
Philippians 4:6–7 says:
“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
God’s peace protects believers even during difficult circumstances.
Trust God Instead of Worrying
Worry focuses on problems.
Faith focuses on God.
Isaiah 26:3 says:
“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.”
As believers continue trusting God’s character and His promises, they discover peace that is rooted in His unchanging faithfulness rather than changing circumstances.
Live Peacefully With Others
The Bible encourages believers to pursue peace in their relationships whenever possible.
This includes showing:
- forgiveness (Ephesians 4:32)
- patience (Colossians 3:12–15)
- humility (Philippians 2:3–4)
- kindness (Ephesians 4:32)
- and love (Romans 12:18).
Although we cannot control the actions of others, we can choose to respond in ways that honour God.
Jesus Is the Prince of Peace
Long before Jesus was born, Isaiah prophesied that the coming Messiah would be called the Prince of Peace.
Through His life, death, and resurrection, Jesus made peace possible between God and humanity.
As believers follow Him, they experience His peace today and look forward to the perfect peace of His eternal kingdom (Isaiah 9:6; Revelation 21:3–4).
