Bible Verses About Changing Yourself For The Better
January 21, 2025Bible Verses About 7 Days Of Creation
January 22, 2025A lot of people know about God.
They know:
- Bible stories
- verses
- church language
- or religious ideas
But knowing about God and actually knowing Him are not the same thing.
That’s where many people feel stuck.
You can:
- read Scripture
- attend church
- pray occasionally
and still feel distant from God personally.
The Bible shows that knowing God is not just:
👉 collecting information about Him
It’s about:
👉 relationship
👉 trust
👉 walking with Him
👉 and growing in understanding over time.
⚡ The Clear Answer
👉 Knowing God in the Bible means more than knowing facts about Him — it means personally relating to Him through faith, trust, obedience, and relationship
The Bible consistently describes knowing God as:
- personal
- ongoing
- relational
Not just intellectual.
What the Bible Actually Says About Knowing God
1. Eternal life is connected to knowing God
Jesus explained this very clearly.
Gospel of John 17:3 (KJV)
“And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.”
Notice:
👉 eternal life is not described as simply “knowing religious information.”
It’s described as:
👉 knowing God Himself.
That shows how central relationship with God really is.
2. God wants people to seek Him
The Bible repeatedly shows God inviting people to draw near to Him.
Book of Jeremiah 29:13 (KJV)
“And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.”
This matters because many people think:
👉 God is distant
👉 uninterested
👉 or impossible to know
But Scripture presents God as someone who responds when people genuinely seek Him.
3. Knowing God changes the way you live
The Bible does not separate knowing God from daily life.
First Epistle of John 2:3–4 (KJV)
“And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar…”
That does not mean:
👉 people become perfect instantly
But it does mean knowing God affects:
- choices
- direction
- attitudes
- and the way a person lives over time.
4. Knowing God brings peace and stability
A lot of people feel:
- spiritually uncertain
- anxious
- disconnected
- or constantly searching
But Scripture repeatedly connects closeness with God to peace and strength.
Book of Daniel 11:32 (KJV)
“…but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.”
Knowing God strengthens people internally.
Not because life becomes easy, but because they are no longer facing life alone.
5. You grow in knowing God over time
This is important because many people expect instant spiritual maturity.
But relationships grow gradually.
The same is true spiritually.
Second Epistle of Peter 3:18 (KJV)
“But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ…”
The Bible describes spiritual growth as:
👉 ongoing
You learn:
- His character
- His truth
- and His ways
more deeply over time.
Why This Matters
A lot of people feel spiritually empty because they are trying to:
- follow rules without relationship
- know facts without connection
- or appear religious without truly knowing God personally
But Christianity was never meant to be:
👉 only external behaviour
At its core, it is about:
👉 relationship with God.
And that changes things deeply.
Because when you begin genuinely knowing God:
- prayer changes
- Scripture changes
- trust grows
- and your perspective starts shifting over time
You stop seeing God only as:
- distant
- angry
- or abstract
and begin knowing Him personally through His Word and presence.
What to Come Back To
Knowing God is not about:
👉 becoming spiritually impressive
It’s not:
- performing perfectly
- having all the answers
- or pretending you never struggle
Many people in the Bible who knew God deeply still:
- wrestled with fear
- asked questions
- struggled emotionally
- and went through difficult seasons
What mattered was:
👉 they continued walking with Him.
And often, people grow closest to God:
- during difficulty
- weakness
- uncertainty
- or seasons where they realise how much they actually need Him.
How to Grow in Knowing God
1. Spend consistent time in Scripture
You cannot deeply know someone you never spend time with.
The Bible reveals:
- God’s character
- wisdom
- truth
- and ways
A lot of people want closeness with God while barely opening His Word.
Consistency matters more than perfection here.
2. Pray honestly, not just formally
Prayer is not meant to sound polished all the time.
Talk to God honestly about:
- fears
- struggles
- questions
- gratitude
- and daily life
Relationship grows through honesty.
3. Obey what you already know
Many people wait for:
- huge signs
- major direction
- or dramatic spiritual experiences
while ignoring the things God has already made clear.
Growth often happens through ordinary daily obedience.
4. Stop treating God like information only
It’s possible to study Christianity while remaining emotionally distant from God.
Knowing God involves:
- trust
- surrender
- relationship
- and actually walking with Him daily.
5. Give growth time
Spiritual growth is usually gradual.
Some seasons feel:
- close
- peaceful
- and spiritually strong
Others feel:
- dry
- confusing
- or emotionally difficult
That does not automatically mean God is absent.
Keep seeking Him consistently.
