- Share the hope you have in Jesus
👉 God can use your faithful witness to lead others to Christ.
What the Bible Says About Evangelism
The Bible teaches that God desires people to hear the Gospel and be saved.
After His resurrection, Jesus commanded His followers to go into the world and make disciples.
This mission, often called the Great Commission, remains the responsibility of believers today.
Matthew 28:19–20 says:
“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
Jesus promised to be with His followers as they faithfully carried out this mission.
The Gospel Is the Good News
Evangelism begins with understanding the Gospel.
The Bible teaches that:
- every person has sinned (Romans 3:23)
- sin separates us from God (Romans 6:23)
- Jesus died for our sins (Romans 5:8; 1 Peter 2:24)
- Jesus rose from the dead (1 Corinthians 15:3–4)
- and everyone who believes in Him can receive eternal life (John 3:16; Romans 10:9–10).
This is the message believers are called to share.
Your Life Is Also a Witness
Sharing the Gospel involves more than words.
The way Christians live should reflect the message they proclaim.
Jesus said that people would recognise His disciples by their love for one another (John 13:34–35).
When believers live with:
- kindness
- humility
- integrity
- forgiveness
- and compassion,
they demonstrate the transforming power of the Gospel.
Share the Truth With Gentleness
Not every conversation about faith will be easy.
Some people may ask difficult questions.
Others may disagree.
The Bible encourages believers to speak the truth with gentleness and respect.
First Peter 3:15 says:
“But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear.”
God calls Christians to speak truth faithfully while reflecting the character of Christ.
Trust God With the Results
Only God can change a person’s heart.
Believers are responsible for faithfully sharing the Gospel.
God is responsible for bringing spiritual growth.
Paul explained this truth when he wrote:
“I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.” (1 Corinthians 3:6)
This reminder helps Christians share the Gospel without fear or pressure, knowing that God is the One who saves.
Pray for Opportunities
Prayer is an essential part of evangelism.
Ask God to:
- open doors for conversations (Colossians 4:3–4)
- give you boldness (Acts 4:29–31)
- provide wisdom (James 1:5)
- and prepare the hearts of those who hear His Word (Acts 16:14).
God often answers these prayers by providing opportunities to share Christ with others.
