Money is an important part of everyday life.
We use it to provide for our families, meet our needs, help others, and support the work of God’s kingdom.
The Bible does not teach that money itself is sinful.
Instead, it teaches that our attitude toward money matters.
God calls believers to:
- trust Him as their provider
- manage money wisely
- give generously
- avoid greed
- and place Him above wealth.

What the Bible Says About Money
The Bible speaks about money more than many people realise.
God understands that money can become either:

Scripture repeatedly teaches that believers should place their confidence in God rather than in riches.
Money can provide temporary security, but only God provides eternal security.
Money Is Not Evil
Many people have heard the phrase:
“Money is the root of all evil.”
However, that is not what the Bible says.
First Timothy 6:10 says:
“For the love of money is the root of all evil.”
Money itself is not sinful.
The problem is loving money more than God.
When wealth becomes our greatest desire, it can lead to greed, dishonesty, pride, and many other sins.
God Owns Everything
Everything we possess ultimately belongs to God.
Psalm 24:1 says:
“The earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof.”
Believers are stewards rather than owners.
God entrusts resources to His people so they can use them wisely for His glory.
Recognising that everything belongs to Him changes the way we view our finances.
Trust God as Your Provider
The Bible encourages believers to work diligently while trusting God to provide for their needs.
Jesus taught His followers not to become consumed by worry about food, clothing, or tomorrow.
Instead, He said:

God knows what His children need.
He calls us to trust Him faithfully.

Generosity reflects God’s own character.
The New Testament encourages believers to give willingly, cheerfully, and according to what God has provided.
Second Corinthians 9:7 says:
“God loveth a cheerful giver.”
Generosity includes:
- helping those in need
- supporting the work of the Gospel

- and sharing God’s blessings with others.
Giving should come from gratitude rather than obligation.
Be Content
One of the greatest protections against greed is contentment.
Hebrews 13:5 says:
“Be content with such things as ye have.”
Contentment does not mean refusing to work hard or improve your situation.
It means trusting God instead of believing that money alone can satisfy your heart.
True contentment is found in Christ.
Store Up Heavenly Treasure
Jesus reminded His followers that earthly wealth is temporary.
Matthew 6:19–20 says:
“Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth…
But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven.”
Believers should use earthly resources in ways that have eternal value.
Our greatest investment is the kingdom of God.

Although wealth can become a dangerous idol, it can also be used to bless others and advance God’s kingdom.
The issue is never simply how much money you have.
The issue is whether your heart belongs to God.
You do not need to:
- place your trust in wealth
- chase money above everything else
- or believe that financial success determines your worth.
Instead, trust God as your provider, manage your resources faithfully, practice generosity, and seek treasures that will last for eternity.
As you continue following Him, something begins to happen.
