Bible Verses about 99 Sheep
March 13, 2025Bible Verses About Fatherhood
March 18, 2025This is one of those topics that gets a lot of attention online:
👉 Who is Lilith?
👉 Was she Adam’s first wife?
👉 Is she actually in the Bible?
There’s a lot of confusion around this — mostly because people mix the Bible with later stories and myths.
So let’s clear it up properly.
⚡ The Clear Answer
👉 There is no person named Lilith in the Bible
The idea that:
- Lilith was Adam’s first wife
- or that she appears as a major figure
👉 is not found in Scripture
It comes from later Jewish folklore — not the Bible itself.
Where the Name “Lilith” Actually Appears
There is one place people point to:
👉 Isaiah 34:14
In some translations, the Hebrew word lilith appears.
But here’s the key:
- Many Bible translations (including KJV) translate it as:
- “screech owl”
- or a night creature
👉 Not a person
This verse is describing:
- a desolate place
- wild animals and creatures
Not telling a story about a woman named Lilith.
Where the Lilith Story Comes From
So where did the idea come from?
👉 Not the Bible — but later writings.
In Jewish folklore (especially medieval texts):
- Lilith is described as Adam’s first wife
- She leaves him and becomes a demonic figure
Over time, the story developed further:
- associated with demons
- night spirits
- harmful figures
👉 But none of this is found in Scripture
Why People Get Confused
There are two main reasons:
1. Mixing the Bible with folklore
People read:
- blogs
- videos
- social media
And those often blend:
👉 biblical text + extra stories
Without telling you the difference.
2. The Genesis creation account
Some people try to explain:
- why Genesis mentions “male and female”
- and then later Eve is created
So they insert Lilith into the story.
👉 But the Bible never says this.
What the Bible Actually Teaches Instead
The Bible is clear about this:
👉 Adam’s wife was Eve
- Eve was created by God
- She is the first woman mentioned
- There is no earlier wife recorded
Anything beyond that:
👉 is added later, not from Scripture
What You Should Take From This
This isn’t just about Lilith — it’s about how you read the Bible.
👉 Not everything you hear online is biblical
So:
- Stick to what Scripture actually says
- Be careful with added stories
- Don’t build beliefs on things the Bible doesn’t teach
Final Thought
Lilith is often presented as:
- mysterious
- hidden
- or “removed” from the Bible
But the truth is much simpler:
👉 She is not a biblical figure
She comes from later traditions — not from God’s Word.
When you separate:
- Scripture
- from added stories
👉 the confusion disappears.
