- people who have hurt you
- those who speak against you
- those who treat you unfairly
- or those who oppose your faith,
the Bible provides clear guidance on how believers should respond.

👉 Followers of Jesus are called to respond differently because they reflect His character.
⚡ What To Do Right Now
- Pray for those who oppose you

- Trust God to bring justice
- Refuse to seek revenge
- Continue doing what is right
👉 God is able to deal with every situation far better than we can.
What the Bible Says About Enemies
The Bible never pretends that enemies do not exist.
Many faithful people, including:
- David
- Daniel
- Jeremiah
- Paul
- and even Jesus,
faced opposition and persecution.
Rather than encouraging revenge, scripture teaches believers to trust God and respond with righteousness.
Romans 12:19 says:
“Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves… Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.”
God alone is the perfect Judge.
Love Your Enemies
One of Jesus’ most challenging commands is to love our enemies.
Matthew 5:44 says:
“But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.”
This kind of love is not based on feelings.
It is a choice to reflect God’s mercy and kindness, even toward those who treat us unfairly.
Pray for Those Who Hurt You
Praying for your enemies changes your perspective.
Instead of allowing anger to control your heart, prayer helps you place the situation into God’s hands.
Praying for those who have wronged you does not mean approving of their actions.
Rather, it demonstrates trust that God is able to work in their lives while also helping protect your own heart from bitterness.
Forgive as God Has Forgiven You
Forgiveness can be difficult.
Some wounds run deep.
However, believers are called to forgive because God has forgiven them through Jesus Christ.
Forgiveness does not always remove consequences or immediately restore trust.
Instead, it releases the desire for personal revenge and places justice in God’s hands (Ephesians 4:32; Colossians 3:13; Romans 12:19).
Trust God to Bring Justice
God sees every injustice.
Nothing escapes His attention.
Although we may not always understand His timing, we can trust that He will judge every situation fairly.
Knowing that God is perfectly just frees believers from the burden of seeking revenge.
His justice is always wiser and more righteous than our own.
Overcome Evil With Good
The Bible encourages believers not only to avoid revenge but also to actively overcome evil with good.
Showing kindness, speaking truth, and living with integrity often become powerful testimonies of God’s transforming grace.
Responding with godliness demonstrates that Christ is changing our hearts.

God is able to transform even the hardest heart.
As believers pray faithfully and trust Him, they leave room for His grace to accomplish what they never could.
Final Thought
The Bible teaches that believers should respond to enemies differently from the world.
Rather than seeking revenge or allowing bitterness to grow, Christians are called to love, forgive, pray, and trust God with justice.
You do not need to:
- repay evil with evil
- carry resentment for the rest of your life
- or take justice into your own hands.
Instead, follow Christ’s example, trust God’s perfect judgment, and allow His love to shape your response.
As you continue walking with Him, something begins to happen.
👉 Bitterness gives way to peace.
👉 Forgiveness becomes possible through God’s strength.
👉 Your faith grows stronger.
👉 Your life reflects the mercy and grace of Jesus Christ.
Loving your enemies is never easy, but it is one of the clearest ways believers demonstrate the transforming power of the Gospel. As you trust God and obey His Word, He will strengthen your heart and help you respond in a way that brings Him glory.
