Lust is a topic that the Bible speaks about seriously.
In today’s world,
lust is often treated as:
- normal
- harmless
- entertaining
- or simply part of life.
But scripture teaches that lust is much more than physical attraction.
Lust involves:

The Bible warns that lust can affect:
- thoughts
- actions
- relationships
- spiritual growth
- and a person’s relationship with God.
The good news is that God provides strength, forgiveness, and freedom for those who struggle with lust.

What the Bible Says About Lust
The Bible teaches that lust is not merely an external issue.

Jesus said in Matthew 5:28:
“But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.”
This verse shows that God cares not only about actions,

Temptation Is Not Sin
Many Christians become discouraged because they experience temptation.
But temptation itself is not sin.
Even Jesus was tempted.
Hebrews 4:15 says:
“Was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.”

- Stop making excuses
- Ask for His help
👉 God already knows your struggles and invites you to bring them to Him
2. Guard what enters your mind
What you regularly consume influences your thoughts.
What to do:
- Be careful with media choices
- Avoid content that encourages lust
- Fill your mind with biblical truth
👉 Protecting your mind helps protect your heart
3. Focus on God instead of temptation
Constantly focusing on temptation often strengthens it.
What to do:
- Spend time in prayer
- Read scripture daily
- Keep your attention on Christ
👉 Spiritual focus weakens sinful desires
4. Pursue purity intentionally
Purity requires active choices.

- Establish healthy boundaries
- Avoid situations that increase temptation
- Make decisions that honour God

But scripture also teaches that freedom is possible through God’s help.

- and depend on His strength daily.
Over time, something begins to happen.
