What Does The Bible Say About Money
June 17, 2024The Bible speaks clearly about witchcraft and sorcery.
From Genesis to Revelation, God consistently warns His people not to participate in:
- witchcraft
- sorcery
- magic
- divination
- spells
- consulting mediums
- or attempting to contact the dead.
These practices seek spiritual power apart from God and open people to deception.
Instead, God calls His people to trust Him alone and seek His wisdom through prayer and His Word.
👉 God alone has authority over the spiritual world and is the only One worthy of our trust.
⚡ What To Do Right Now
- Turn away from every form of witchcraft and occult practice
- Pray to God instead of seeking supernatural guidance elsewhere
- Read God’s Word daily
- Destroy any occult objects connected with your past
- Trust Jesus Christ alone for wisdom, guidance, and protection
👉 God calls His people to seek Him—not the occult.
What the Bible Says About Witchcraft
Throughout scripture, God repeatedly forbids His people from practicing witchcraft or seeking supernatural knowledge apart from Him.
These practices include:
- sorcery
- divination
- fortune-telling
- consulting mediums
- astrology for spiritual guidance
- attempting to speak with the dead
- and casting spells.
Deuteronomy 18:10–12 says:
“There shall not be found among you any one that… useth divination… or an enchanter, or a witch…
For all that do these things are an abomination unto the Lord.”
God’s commands exist to protect His people from spiritual deception.
Witchcraft Seeks Power Apart From God
The Bible teaches that believers should depend entirely on God.
Witchcraft attempts to gain:
- knowledge
- power
- protection
- or guidance
through spiritual sources other than Him.
Instead of trusting God’s wisdom, these practices seek answers through forbidden spiritual means.
Believers are called to seek God through prayer, scripture, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
The Occult Is Spiritually Dangerous
The Bible warns that Satan disguises himself as an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14).
Not every supernatural experience comes from God.
For this reason, Christians are commanded to test spiritual claims and reject anything that contradicts God’s Word (1 John 4:1).
Although occult practices may appear harmless or entertaining, scripture consistently presents them as spiritually dangerous.
God Calls His People to Repent
The good news is that no one is beyond God’s forgiveness.
In the early church, many people who had practiced magic repented after believing in Jesus.
Acts 19:19 says:
“Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together, and burned them before all men.”
Their response demonstrated genuine repentance.
They turned away from the occult and chose to follow Christ completely.
Jesus Has Authority Over Every Spiritual Power
Believers never need to fear witchcraft or evil spirits.
Jesus has complete authority over every power of darkness.
Colossians 2:15 says that Christ triumphed over spiritual rulers through the cross.
When we belong to Jesus, our confidence rests in His victory rather than in fear of the enemy.
Test Everything by God’s Word
Many spiritual practices today claim to offer healing, wisdom, or guidance.
The Bible teaches believers to test every teaching and every spiritual experience against scripture.
If something encourages us to seek supernatural power apart from God, it should be rejected.
God’s Word remains the standard for truth.
