Bible Verses about Infidelity
September 3, 2024Bible Verses About Restoration
September 3, 2024Few topics are misunderstood more than judging others.
People often say:
- “The Bible says don’t judge”
- or “Christians should never correct anyone.”
Others become:
- harsh
- critical
- self-righteous
- or constantly focused on other people’s faults.
So what does the Bible actually teach?
Scripture does warn against:
- hypocritical judgment
- prideful condemnation
- and self-righteous attitudes.
But the Bible also teaches believers to:
- use discernment
- recognise sin
- and speak truth with wisdom and love.
So this topic requires balance and biblical understanding.
⚡ What To Do Right Now
- Stop focusing only on other people’s faults
- Examine your own heart honestly first
- Avoid harsh, prideful criticism
- Speak truth with humility and love
- Pray for discernment instead of becoming self-righteous
👉 Correction without love becomes condemnation
What the Bible Says About Judging Others
The Bible does not teach:
👉 “ignore all sin” or “never use discernment.”
But it strongly warns against:
- hypocritical judgment
- condemning attitudes
- and prideful criticism.
Jesus said in Matthew 7:1–2:
“Judge not, that ye be not judged.”
This verse is often quoted,
but many people stop reading too early.
Jesus continues by warning about:
- hypocrisy
- and judging others while ignoring your own sin.
The issue is not:
👉 recognising right and wrong.
The issue is:
👉 pridefully condemning others while refusing to examine yourself.
Jesus Warned Against Hypocrisy
Matthew 7:3–5 says:
“Why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?”
Jesus teaches believers to:
- examine themselves first
- repent personally
- and avoid hypocritical attitudes.
This means:
- correction should come with humility
- not arrogance.
The Bible consistently warns against:
- self-righteousness
- pride
- and acting spiritually superior.
The Bible Still Teaches Discernment
Some people misunderstand “judge not” to mean:
- believers should never recognise sin
- or never speak truth.
But scripture also teaches discernment.
For example:
- believers are warned about false teachers
- harmful behaviour
- and sinful actions.
John 7:24 says:
“Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.”
This means:
👉 believers should use wise, fair, and godly discernment —
not harsh condemnation or shallow assumptions.
Judging Motives Is Dangerous
People often assume they fully understand:
- another person’s heart
- motives
- struggles
- or intentions.
But only God sees everything fully.
1 Samuel 16:7 says:
“Man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.”
This is why believers should be:
- cautious
- humble
- and slow to condemn others.
Harsh Judgment Often Comes From Pride
Sometimes people judge others because:
- it makes them feel superior
- distracted from their own issues
- or spiritually important.
Jesus strongly criticised religious leaders who:
- appeared outwardly righteous
- while lacking mercy, humility, and love internally.
The Bible teaches:
👉 truth without humility becomes dangerous.
Christians Are Called to Restore, Not Destroy
Galatians 6:1 says:
“Restore such an one in the spirit of meekness…”
When correction is necessary,
the goal should be:
- restoration
- healing
- truth
- and spiritual growth.
Not:
- humiliation
- cruelty
- gossip
- or public shaming.
Biblical correction should reflect:
👉 humility and love.
