Story Summary

In the days of the judges, a famine struck Israel, and a man named Elimelek moved with his wife Naomi and their two sons to Moab. Sadly, Elimelek and his sons died, leaving Naomi and her two Moabite daughters-in-law, Orpah and Ruth, as widows.

Naomi decided to return to Bethlehem and urged both women to stay in Moab. Orpah went back, but Ruth refused to leave her side. She declared: “Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God.” (Ruth 1:16, NIV).

In Bethlehem, Ruth worked in the fields to provide for Naomi. She caught the attention of Boaz, a kind and godly man. Boaz showed generosity and protection to Ruth. Later, through Naomi’s guidance, Ruth asked Boaz to be her family’s redeemer.

Boaz agreed and married Ruth. Together they had a son named Obed, who became the grandfather of King David. Through Ruth’s faithfulness, she became part of the family line leading to Jesus, the Savior of the world.

Creation

1 Corinthians 11:8–9

“The man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man.”

Keep the Focus on Christ

Head coverings are not the Gospel.

Jesus Christ is.

While Christians may hold different convictions about the application of 1 Corinthians 11 today, every believer should seek to honour God, obey His Word, and love one another.

Our unity is found in Christ rather than complete agreement on every secondary issue.

Final Thought

The Bible clearly discusses women covering their heads in 1 Corinthians 11, yet faithful Christians have reached different conclusions about how those instructions apply today.

Some believe women should continue wearing head coverings during worship.

Others believe Paul’s timeless principles remain, while the cultural expression has changed.

Whatever conclusion you reach, let it come from careful study of scripture rather than tradition, culture, or personal preference.

You do not need to:

• judge believers who reach a different conclusion
• ignore the passage because it is difficult
• or allow this discussion to distract you from the Gospel.

Instead, study God’s Word carefully, seek His wisdom, worship Him with humility, and desire above all to honour Jesus Christ.

As you continue following Him, something begins to happen.

Your understanding of scripture grows.
Humility shapes your heart.
Your worship becomes more sincere.
Your confidence rests in God’s Word.

God desires hearts that sincerely seek to obey Him. As you continue studying His Word with humility and faith, He will guide you into greater wisdom and a deeper understanding of His truth.
