Bible Verses For New Year
January 19, 2025Bible Verses For Victory
January 19, 2025In A lot of people struggle with confidence, even if they don’t always show it outwardly.
Some people constantly:
- doubt themselves
- overthink everything they say
- compare themselves to others
- fear rejection
- or feel like they’re never enough.
And confidence issues don’t only affect:
- social situations
- or public speaking.
They affect:
- decisions
- relationships
- purpose
- emotional health
- and sometimes even people’s willingness to step into what God is calling them to do.
The Bible talks about confidence very differently from the world though.
Worldly confidence is often built on:
- appearance
- success
- popularity
- ability
- or people’s approval.
But biblical confidence is rooted in:
👉 who God is
👉 and who you are in Him.
That kind of confidence is much deeper and more stable.
⚡ The Clear Answer
👉 The Bible teaches that real confidence comes from trusting God, knowing your identity in Him, and relying on His strength instead of constantly depending on yourself
Biblical confidence is not:
- arrogance
- pride
- pretending to be fearless
- or believing you are better than others.
It is:
- security in God
- trust in His presence
- and confidence that He can work through imperfect people.
What the Bible Actually Says About Confidence
1. Confidence grows through trusting God
One of the clearest verses about confidence is:
Book of Proverbs 3:26 (KJV)
“For the Lord shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken.”
That verse matters because many people build confidence on unstable things:
- appearance
- achievements
- relationships
- or what other people think of them.
But those things constantly change.
The Bible points people toward confidence rooted in God instead.
2. God often works through people who feel weak or insecure
Many people in the Bible struggled with fear and insecurity.
Moses doubted himself.
Jeremiah felt too young.
Gideon felt weak.
Even Peter struggled with fear.
Yet God still used them powerfully.
Second Epistle to Timothy 1:7 (KJV)
“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”
This matters because many people assume:
👉 “If I feel insecure, God can’t use me.”
But Scripture repeatedly shows the opposite.
3. Confidence does not mean never feeling afraid
This is important.
Biblical confidence is not:
👉 the absence of fear.
Many people in Scripture still felt afraid at times.
Confidence often means:
👉 continuing forward while trusting God despite fear.
Book of Joshua 1:9 (KJV)
“Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid… for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.”
Notice:
👉 God’s presence is the reason for courage.
4. Your value comes from being created by God
A lot of insecurity comes from comparison.
People compare:
- appearance
- personality
- success
- confidence
- talents
- or social approval.
But the Bible repeatedly reminds people that human value comes from God.
Book of Psalms 139:14 (KJV)
“I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made…”
That changes confidence completely.
Because your worth is no longer dependent on:
👉 outperforming everyone else.
5. Confidence grows through knowing God more deeply
The Bible repeatedly connects confidence with closeness to God.
Epistle to the Hebrews 13:6 (KJV)
“So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.”
A lot of insecurity comes from fearing:
- rejection
- criticism
- embarrassment
- or people’s opinions.
But confidence grows when people become more grounded in God than in constant approval from others.
Why This Matters
Low confidence affects people more deeply than many realise.
It can stop people from:
- speaking up
- trying new things
- building healthy relationships
- sharing their faith
- or stepping into opportunities God may actually be calling them toward.
And many people spend years trapped in:
- self-doubt
- insecurity
- comparison
- and fear of what others think.
That becomes emotionally exhausting.
But the Bible repeatedly points people back toward:
👉 identity in God
👉 trust in Him
👉 and confidence rooted in His strength instead of self-worth built purely on performance.
What to Come Back To
Confidence is not:
- becoming loud
- acting superior
- or pretending you never feel insecure.
Some of the most confident people biblically were still:
- humble
- dependent on God
- and aware of their own weakness.
Real confidence grows when you stop constantly asking:
👉 “What does everyone think of me?”
and start focusing more on:
👉 “Am I walking with God faithfully?”
And honestly, many people become more confident over time not because they suddenly become perfect, but because they slowly stop letting fear control every decision.
That growth matters.
Practical Ways to Grow in Confidence Biblically
1. Stop constantly comparing yourself to other people
Comparison destroys confidence quickly.
There will always be someone:
- smarter
- more attractive
- more talented
- more successful
- or more confident outwardly.
But constantly comparing yourself keeps your focus on people instead of God.
2. Pay attention to the way you speak about yourself
A lot of people reinforce insecurity daily through their own thoughts and words.
Constantly saying:
- “I’m useless”
- “I’ll never be good enough”
- “Everyone else is better than me”
affects the mind deeply over time.
That does not mean becoming prideful.
But it does mean recognising your value comes from God, not self-hatred.
3. Build confidence through obedience, not perfection
Confidence grows when people:
- keep taking steps forward
- keep trusting God
- and keep acting despite fear.
Waiting until you feel fully fearless usually keeps people stuck.
4. Spend more time focusing on God than on people’s opinions
Many people are emotionally controlled by:
- fear of rejection
- criticism
- embarrassment
- or approval.
But Scripture repeatedly reminds believers that:
👉 God’s opinion matters more than public approval.
That perspective changes confidence significantly.
5. Remember that growth takes time
Some people expect instant confidence overnight.
But confidence often grows gradually through:
- healing
- maturity
- experience
- trusting God
- and repeatedly stepping through fear instead of obeying it.
